Burundi
Bujumbura, Sunday 1:15PM Waiting for my contact , Adrien, to give me
some info about going up to Gitega. It is about 3 hours by bus. Second
biggest town in Burundi. It was the seat of the Mwami, the king , in
the old days. Spent the night listening to music , non stop, coming
from a night club three blocks away. There was no break between songs,
no set break. It stopped about 4:00AM, mosquitoes did not stop biting
however, and cats making whoopee took up when the music left off. Went
to church with the Quakers this am. Last evening walking through the
streets, there were numerous wedding parties in the area. The women
dressed like mannequins with beautiful gowns with an African flavor.
The men much more sedate, many without jacket or tie.
